Short videos are the future of communication: 3 tips for keeping it short

December 20, 2017

Back in the 17th century, Blaise Pascal used to say: "Forgive me, I didn't have time to keep it short" (well... apart from a few details, the exact quote can be found here). For 2018, Facebook is encouraging its advertisers to synthesize their messages to give them more impact.

The social network is not alone. More and more players are looking at this issue. They all emphasize that, while brevity in video is a difficult exercise, its added value is such that today, it's imperative to comply.

And with a little practice, the art of synthesis becomes a reflex.

Here are three verbatims on the subject that we found enlightening, originally published in English on The Inquirer website:

1 "It has become essential to consider video production as part of a strategic approach to reaching a targeted audience.

It doesn't have to be expensive - there are plenty of online platforms that do the job, and at low cost.

And today, everyone has a smartphone".

2. "Owning expensive, state-of-the-art equipment can help, but it's not a differentiating factor. Understanding the creative aspects of a video first and foremost will create content that truly engages. And if you're struggling for ideas, think "partnerships" and "collaborations".

3. "Find your niche. Detach yourself from conventional overselling approaches. Make current trends your own. Tell stories through your videos and establish an interesting lead."
