[3/6] Video transition tutorials: chromatic transition

October 7, 2018

Today Boris - consultant at EasyMovie - continues to explain the many simple and effective transitions that can make your videos more dynamic, focusing on chromatic transitions.

Many of you have tried to reproduce our transitions, and the results are quite successful! So, with so much enthusiasm, we can't help but present you with more easy-to-make ideas.

Now that you know how to make the transition with your hands and the one in motion, we can move on to something slightly more complicated: the color transition.

What's it for?

This allows you to move seamlessly from one place to another, or to change speakers. Nevertheless, to make transitions look natural, pay attention to the positioning of your speaker(s) throughout the video. If he or she is in the center of your frame in the first shot, be sure to leave him or her in the center of your second shot in his or her new setting.

How do I go about it?

To do this, simply find a color (say, red) that's present in both shots. At the end of your first shot, move closer to the chosen color, red, and stop recording.
Then, when you start your new shot, start with the same red color, and crop the speaker so that he or she can speak again.
Make sure that the filmed color fills your entire screen, to avoid any false connections.
