Why choose video as part of your communication strategy?

February 6, 2019

There are many ways to communicate. You can go by word of mouth, post a photo or use video. Among all these choices, we're going to explain why this last point is what you need to develop your communication strategy.

Following the trend

If you haven't noticed, the number one format on the web is video. For a long time, photos were the main means of communication used by companies, but today they're a thing of the past. Well, not completely. Cell phones have evolved, making it more accessible to create movies on a smartphone.

Anyone with a phone a little more recent than a Nokia 3310 can now make quality videos!

Be present on networks

A company's online presence is a must in 2019. The web is an interesting market because Internet users are fond of videos, as evidenced by the number ofhours of videos watched every day on YouTube. What's more, you'll also have noticed that it has a much greater presence on Facebook, LinkedIn and other networks than it used to.

However, be sure to adapt your content to the different platforms. For example, use square formats for Facebook videos and the classic format for other networks. Finally, don't forget to favor short formats and add subtitles. Remember, the average attention span of an Internet user is less than sixty seconds, but Robert tells you all about that in his video.

The best return on investment

There are a number of elements that a photo cannot resolve. For example, a photo of a product reveals very little information about it. On the other hand, using video to show the same product is much more explicit.

According to Invodo's infographic, 60% of buyers watch at least two minutes of product videos before buying. Finally, according to the same source, once a product video has been watched, purchase intent increases by 174%. Communicating your product using this format will bring confidence to your customers and reassure them about your solution or your product.

Create a community

What video best expresses is storytelling. As your business grows, you create one, if not several, communities. Followers, those who follow your development, want to know and follow the evolution of your business. They are usually subscribers, relatives or shareholders. By making videos to show the evolution of your company or your internal events, you'll bring them closer together, and your community will be all the stronger for it.

To illustrate this example, new EasyMovians are asked to make their own presentation videos. We then share them on our YouTube page for our followers to access. You can also use other means such as podcasts or events to find them.

Differentiate yourself

Small, everyday changes can make a real difference to your customers and visitors. Take our sales team, for example. They've all done their e-mail signatures on video. Some people won't pay much attention to this little detail, but for others, it makes a big difference. Find out more about this signature in this article.

Video is also the perfect format for putting your contact details at the end of your presentation. Whether you're presenting your product, your employees or your events, you can leave your contact details in the background.
