SPIE press release:
The Tertiary division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, a subsidiary of the SPIE Group, Europe's leading independent provider of multi-technical services in the fields of energy and communications, announces the launch of its "Energy Management" package, a tailor-made solution that offers its tertiary sector customers total control over their energy consumption.
A major challenge for the service sector
Developed by the Tertiary division's South-West business unit, in partnership with two Toulouse-based IoT Valley startups, UbiGreen and Cenareo, this new pack is fully compliant with the requirements of the "Tertiary" decree, which stipulates that managers of buildings of over 1,000 m² must set up IT platforms for collecting and tracking energy consumption. The stated aim is to contribute to a gradual 60% reduction in energy consumption by 2050.
The UbiGreen solution, now integrated by SPIE, combines an IT platform with the deployment of sensors at the building's main energy and fluid metering points.
Accessible securely via a web browser, it enables precise monitoring of several parameters, including the following:
- optimization of power subscriptions with suppliers
- warnings of abnormal consumption and overruns of subscribed powers
- automatic checking of energy bills for billing errors
- analysis and optimization of setpoint temperatures and operating schedules for HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) equipment
"Our system is a real 'tracker' of abnormal consumption in relation to building usage and external data (heating running at weekends, lights on in broad daylight, water leaks...)," explains Pierre-Olivier Bessol, CEO and co-founder of UbiGreen."
For the customers of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, the return on investment of such an installation is almost immediate.
Dynamic display to raise user awareness
Cenareoanother SPIE partner in this area, has designed a digital signage system that makes energy consumption data visible and easy to understand. The aim is to raise awareness of the need to improve performance energy efficiency, by communicating building consumption and key indicators in real time via screens. "UbiGreen and Cenareo enable us to translate data into indicators that are easy for users to understand," points out Frédéric Laporte-Fauret, South-West development manager for SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire's Tertiary division. "Users' simple awareness of their energy consumption can reduce it by 15% in just a few months."
