Bringing medico-social establishments to life through screens: the example of the John Bost Foundation

3/8/2020

At this institution, which cares for dependent elderly people and patients suffering from psychological disorders and physical and/or mental disabilities, the mission is to provide care and support for residents. From an organizational point of view, this means there's little time to meet, exchange ideas and pass on the right messages between management and staff. So how do you find the right tool to boost internal communication, as well as communication between caregivers, educational staff, residents and their families? This is where dynamic communication with a screen system can contribute to change.

The John Bost Foundation: a place for care, life and meaning

A Protestant foundation founded in 1848, it accommodates 1,700 residents in 38 establishments and services in France, whose original philosophy of "structures without walls or fences" is still relevant today. Of its 2,000 employees, including care, support and administrative staff, few have regular access to a computer. For Arnaud Bigex, director of service communication at the foundation, it was necessary to boost information sharing:

" It was essential to find a means of communication that was easy to manage, accessible and would be read and seen by as many people as possible in each facility. The foundation needed an instant communication tool to complement meetings, emails, internal letters and paper postings, for an organization in multi-site mode where communications differ according to region and facility. "

Digital signage: the ideal solution

Digital signage is the solution chosen by the John Bost Foundation. It's a simple solution that can be managed directly by the foundation's managers, to organize and display relevant content on screens in any location. Each site has at least one screen, so that everyone (visitors, patients, residents, families, care, support and administrative staff) can see what's going on at the facility.

Screens as a place for sharing

A total of 39 screens have been installed and equipped with the Cenareo communications solution. Easy to use, the solution enables the managers of each facility or site to publish content and administer their screens, in addition to national communications, managed from the historic headquarters in Dordogne.

So, in addition to the messages broadcast throughout the region, each establishment can add announcements of events, photos of events, special moments, the menu of the day, birthdays, the weather, the latest news, etc.

The screen has also become an attraction: residents are given appointments for special viewing sessions. When everyone is together, the manager launches the new content. A moment of sharing for residents and care and support teams!

When travel and physical contact no longer exist, what's left?

More than ever during the Covid-19 crisis, non-physical communication was necessary: not only to inform people about the health protocols in place, but also, and above all, to continue creating links between people and establishments.

Reminiscing about past events, celebrating good news, sharing in the life of the facility... all messages to help residents and professional teams feel less alone and cope with this period of isolation.
